• IOWD is a charity that brings out teams of doctors 4 times a year to operate on the women
• IOWD is a non-profit voluntary organisation working with the government and people of Niger. All doctors pay their own airfares and expenses plus minimal admin. costs.
• Personal friend Dr Mary Pat Fitzgerald, an Irish doctor in Chicago, is on the medical advisory board of IOWD in New York hence the Irish involvement
• Their operative success rate is 83.3% allowing fistula women to have their health & dignity restored
